In this project, during our discussions with the client, who is a board member of a listed company with a keen appreciation for art, we learned that they wish to combine two penthouse spaces into a single expansive apartment of approximately 320㎡. The goal is to showcase minimalist aesthetics and functionality. The client desires each piece of furniture to not only exhibit the modern elegance of minimalist design but also to possess premium quality and practical functionality. Most importantly, the owner wishes to design the house following the design and material standards of top Italian furniture brands.

Considering the significant challenge posed by the humid coastal climate on furniture, Therefore, the Bk Ciandre team needs to align with the owner’s artistic aspirations and select materials that meet the quality standards of top Italian furniture.

• Minimalist design: Clean lines, elegant colors, and prominent material textures.
• High-end quality: Each piece of furniture must use top-notch materials, undergo meticulous processing to ensure a balance of luxury and comfort.

Climate challenges faced by the project

The project is located in Sanya, a coastal area with high humidity throughout the year.

This humid climate poses high durability and maintenance requirements for furniture, as common materials are prone to moisture, mold, or damage.

Particularly, coastal storms and salt intrusion exacerbate the risk of material aging.

Therefore, the Bk Ciandre Team must find innovative solutions that are both moisture-resistant and aesthetically pleasing.

In order to meet the high-end requirements of customers and overcome climate challenges, we have chosen the following innovative materials:

• Aluminum: Aluminum furniture not only has excellent moisture resistance, but is also resistant to salt corrosion and highly durable. Additionally, aluminum can achieve a delicate surface treatment through modern processes, achieving the texture and beauty required for minimalist design.
• Glass: Glass is not only moisture-resistant but also has excellent visual transparency and modernity, making the space appear brighter and more spacious. Specially treated glass can also enhance its durability, preventing scratches and breakage.
• Porcelain slab: As a new high-end material, porcelain slab possesses multiple excellent properties such as waterproof, moisture-resistant, and high temperature resistance. In the design of this luxury residence, the Bk Ciandre team specially designed two sets of charming cabinets to meet the tastes and needs of different family members, further enhancing the aesthetics and functionality of the entire space.

The following set of cabinets are made of glass material, which has been specially treated to effectively resist moisture.

The tempered glass provides stronger resistance to pressure and impact, making it less prone to breakage.
